With this form of interpreting the conference interpreter takes notes during the speech and translates these in short bursts during pauses in the speaker’s delivery. This is the preferred method for corporate events and meetings involving changes in venue, such as delegation visits, where simultaneous interpreting facilities would not be available.

Consecutive interpreting requires no specific technical equipment and the interpreter simply works with notepad and pen, although a microphone may prove useful in some cases.
